THE Northern Ireland Government Affairs Group – the representative
body for public affairs professionals – will be hosting its inaugural summer
lecture on Thursday, July 24th with Ulster Unionist MP, Jeffrey
Donaldson as speaker.
The lecture - to be delivered at Malone House, Barnett’s
Demesne - is the latest in a series of guest speakers who have addressed senior
public affairs professionals from the public, community, voluntary, and private
sectors.
Northern Ireland Government Affairs Group (NIGAG) chairman, Glyn Roberts, said the lecture was the latest stage in the development of NIGAG.
“As the professional representative body for public affairs professionals we have made it a key task to make sure that we speak and hear from Northern Ireland’s leading political figures,” he said.
“Already we have been addressed by leaders and senior figures of all the main political parties and been involved in question and answer sessions from leading public bodies such as the Boundary Commission and the Review of Public Administration.
“With the launch of a summer lecture we are beginning to put together a programme for the coming period, and are especially delighted that Mr Donaldson has agreed to deliver the lecture.”
NIGAG membership consists of a range of professionals and all events are open to members. Membership has increased by 33 per cent in the past 12 months.
“We have been fortunate that Northern Ireland has a community of public affairs professionals that adopts the highest standards in representing their organisations and clients to politicians, community representatives and senior departmental officials,” said Mr Roberts.
