NIGAG hold 2005 AGM
15/09/05
The NIGAG Annual General Meeting in Queens University was held on Monday 12th September 2005. Attended by upwards of eighty representatives, the meeting was addressed by Political Development Minister, David Hanson MP.
The Minister spoke of the government?s determination to press ahead with a programme of reform and regeneration whilst direct rule persisted. A number of policy areas were singled out as receiving special attention, principally education, neighbourhood regeneration and water reform.
There was emphasis, however, that the government viewed direct rule as only a temporary measure. The primary goal remains the restitution of the local Assembly ? a welcome sentiment for those assembled.
A new Committee was elected, details of which can be found in the membership section. Further events will be announced shortly.
NIGAG would like to thank Queens University for their hospitality, and Chris Harrison from CIPR for his presentation.
